Second Harvest Food Bank is making changes to the Food for Kids Program. In order to participate starting October 14th, families must sign up to receive food. Attached is a google form to sign up (Food for Kids Program Registration in blue under my name) and provide us with the information needed for food delivery. They will only be sending a designated amount of food for the number of families registered. Please contact me if you have any questions.

It is not too late to join Girls on the Run. Call me here at THES or send an email at hughesl@unicoischools.com if you would like for your daughter to participate. Participation is available to 2nd - 5th grade girls. We need 3 girls to start the program. We are the only elementary school in Unicoi County not participating. Thanks, Mrs. Hughes

Good Attendance helps students today and tomorrow. Strive for less than 5!!!

Dear Temple Hill Elementary School Families!
WOW! In the past 24 hours, an overwhelming number of families have rallied behind our effort, sending hundreds of invitations to friends and family. We're so excited to see that expanding home libraries and supporting our teachers is as important to you as it is to us.

There's still time to get in on the fun. That's right: If you didn't have a chance to register and send 10 or more invitations to family and friends, you still have time. Click the link above, don't miss out.
Complete your Treasure Map tonight and your student(s) will be entered to win a Treasure Chest. Drawings start tomorrow!
Thank you!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Franks

Dear Temple Hill Elementary School Families,
We're teaming up with Books Are Fun and their Book Blast program to help grow our students' home libraries and encourage more reading time over screen time. For more than 30 years, Books Are Fun has helped promote literacy by getting great books into the hands of students.
Today, our students learned about the Book Blast Program and the importance of having their own books at home. Tonight, we are asking you to take 7 minutes to support our Student Home Library initiative.
Click Here: https://app.booksarefun.com/TempleHillES37650
Here are the steps:
Click the link above.
Register your student(s).
Send invitations to at least 10 friends or family members to support our students (don't worry, all the information you provide is secure and never shared with anyone).

Win a trip to Disney!
Our school has been selected for an incredible opportunity! For every supporter who clicks your student's contribution link during Book Blast, you'll earn one entry for a chance to win a trip to Disney! For example, if five different people click the link, your family gets five entries into the drawing!
*Pro Tip: After sending invitations, follow up with a phone call to make sure they received the message.
Why I love this program:
It's guaranteed to put new, age-appropriate books into the hands of every student!
100% of all contributions go toward new books and classroom supplies.
The book list is fantastic! It's attached, check it out.
It will take you less than 10 minutes and there is NO financial requirement from you.
More books in your homes equals more pages being read! That's the goal. We're hoping for 100% participation.

Thank you for helping our students have more books.

Some of our students have been bringing personal electronic devices to school. We would appreciate it if they could remain at home for several reasons, including theft, damage, and distraction.
Unicoi Schools has a policy in place for electronic devices during the school day, 6.312, and it reads:
A student may be permitted to utilize a wireless communication device under the following circumstances:
1. In case of emergency;
2. When authorized by a teacher or administrator;
3. To manage the student’s health, as documented in the student’s individual healthcare plan;
4. When the possession or use is required by the student’s individual education program, 504 plan, or individual learning plan; or
5. When the device is being used by a student with a disability for the operation of assistive technology to increase, maintain, or improve the student’s functional capabilities.
GRADES K-5
Students may possess wireless communication devices so long as such devices are turned off and stored for the entirety of the school day unless one of the exceptions above applies.
THANK YOU for your understanding and help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Franks

Tomorrow!!
