Safety Week Sept 8-12. Look for the Safety Letter coming home this week.

Dear families,
Some of our students have been bringing personal electronic devices to school. We would appreciate it if they could remain at home for several reasons, including theft, damage, and distraction.
Unicoi Schools has a policy in place for electronic devices during the school day, 6.312, and it reads:
A student may be permitted to utilize a wireless communication device under the following circumstances:
1. In case of emergency;
2. When authorized by a teacher or administrator;
3. To manage the student’s health, as documented in the student’s individual healthcare plan;
4. When the possession or use is required by the student’s individual education program, 504 plan, or individual learning plan; or
5. When the device is being used by a student with a disability for the operation of assistive technology to increase, maintain, or improve the student’s functional capabilities.
GRADES K-5
Students may possess wireless communication devices so long as such devices are turned off and stored for the entirety of the school day unless one of the exceptions above applies.
THANK YOU for your understanding and help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Franks

Get Ready, Set, READ! Book Blast kicks off Next Monday, September 8th.

Subject: Get Ready for Book Blast – New Books for Every Student!
Dear Families,
We're excited to share that our school is partnering with Books Are Fun and the Book Blast program to help put brand-new, age-appropriate books into the hands of every one of our students!
Here's why we love Book Blast:
Every student receives books they'll love and want to read
100% of all contributions go directly to books and classroom needs
The book list is thoughtfully curated and truly engaging
Keep an eye out for a message from me with more details soon.
Your student will also be bringing home a printed Treasure Map—this is their ticket to joining the fun, earning books, and unlocking some great prizes. It's simple, exciting, and encourages reading at home.
In the meantime, you can learn more about Books Are Fun and the Book Blast program: https://www.bb.booksarefun.com/testimonials.
We're looking forward to a great kickoff!
