Online Registration for the upcoming school year will open a little later than usual as we complete important system updates to improve the registration process.

Director John English has announced the following schedule to begin the 2026-27 school year:
ALL employees should report to the UC High School auditorium on Monday, August 3, at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be provided.
Following the opening session, teachers and instructional assistants will return to their assigned schools on August 3. Principals will meet with faculty and staff to review the in-service schedule for the week of August 3–6.
The first day of school for Students is Monday, August 10, and will be an early dismissal day.
-UCHS and UCMS will start at 7:45 a.m. and dismiss at 11:45 a.m.
-All elementary schools will start at 8:00 a.m. and dismiss at 12:00 noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
The first full day for students will be on Tuesday, August 11.

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide a safe and secure learning environment, Unicoi County Schools and Unicoi County Sheriff’s department will perform a routine canine patrol and search this morning at Unicoi County Middle School and Unicoi County High School. During the operation, there will be increased police and emergency vehicle presence, however, there is no need for alarm or concern.

Kindergarten Registration
Online kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year will open on Monday, March 16, on the www.unicoischools.com webpage. Children must be five years old on or before August 15, 2026, to register.

Community members may notice an increased emergency personnel presence around Unicoi County High School due to a medical situation. Out of an abundance of caution, the school has been placed on a soft lockdown and all students and staff are safe.
