Dear Temple Hill Families,
Each year, the Tennessee Department of Education reviews school performance using several indicators to understand how schools are serving all students. These indicators include student achievement and growth, English learner progress, and attendance. Based on the 2024–25 results, Temple Hill Elementary has been identified for Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
We want to share this information with you in a spirit of transparency and partnership. Most importantly, we want you to know that this designation does not define our school—it simply provides an opportunity for additional support as we continue working to help every child thrive.
We also recognize that the 2024–25 school year was not typical for Temple Hill. The impact of Hurricane Helene and the displacement of our school community created challenges for students, families, and staff. Through it all, our community showed incredible resilience, flexibility, and commitment to learning. We are deeply proud of how our students and families persevered, and we are grateful for your continued support.
As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are partnering closely with district leaders and state-approved consultants to strengthen teaching and learning at Temple Hill. Our focus includes:
Ensuring strong, engaging instruction in every classroom using high-quality instructional materials.
Protecting time for teachers to plan together and prepare lessons that meet students’ needs while maintaining grade-level expectations.
Regularly reviewing student work and assessment data to identify strengths and areas for growth.
Providing targeted supports during the school day that build on core instruction rather than replace it.
Monitoring attendance and student well-being to ensure every child feels supported and connected.
Additionally, I am participating in focused workshops and coaching sessions to further strengthen data-driven decision-making and school improvement planning. These supports are designed to ensure we are using every available resource effectively to benefit our students.
At Temple Hill, we are always working to improve. We believe in continuous growth—for students and adults alike—and we are committed to providing a high-quality, supportive, and challenging learning environment for every child.
Your partnership matters. You can support your child’s success by encouraging regular attendance, staying connected with your child’s teacher, and participating in family engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Thank you for being an important part of the Temple Hill community. Together, we will continue to build on our strengths and ensure a bright future for every student.
Sincerely,
Leslie Franks
Temple Hill Elementary Principal
