The ACT is a college admissions test that is required for admittance into a college or university. The ACT is the preferred test for most Tennessee institutions. Please check with the college of university that you are planning to attend to determine if the ACT or SAT is required.
The ACT is made up of four timed tests which are Science,Math, Reading, and English. The ACT does offer an optional writing assessment, at this time only select colleges are requiring the test for admission. Please check with your college or university to see if this is a requirement. The highest composite score for the ACT is a 36.
Please visit the ACT website for online registration, practice tests, test dates, deadlines etc...
You may also pick up a ACT packet in the counseling office.
