7:45-8:15 Greeting Children/Parents & Question of the Day/Puzzles

The learner will complete morning work by answering the question of the day. Teacher will model how to formulate a question. Students will answer the question by moving their name ticket to either the “yes” or “no” side of the chart. The students will begin to realize that their written name represents their choice. After children have made their choice they may find a puzzle to work on the carpet. Teachers will use the following standards to guide their conversations with the children as they are making their choice and working puzzles.

8:15-8:45 Breakfast/Lunch

The learner will develop self-help skills as they prepare for breakfast. Teachers will use the following standards to guide their conversations with students as they are preparing for breakfast. Teachers will sit with the students during lunch to facilitate and assist the children in developing conversational/language skills.

8:45-9:00 Book Look

Morning meeting includes the following: calendar, weather, social emotional classroom group issues, songs/finger plays, and a planned daily learning experience listed below. Weekly Focus: Jump the Stick

1:00-1:15 Journals/Math Manipulative Trajectory Experiences 

 The students will complete a journal page. Teachers will engage students in conversation about their creation. Teachers will “think aloud” to write the students words on the journal, thereby connecting words to thoughts. After their words have been written and they have placed their journal page in their journal the students will transition on their own over to the carpet where a they will use math manipulative. Teachers will use the following standards to guide conversations with children.
