      Unicoi County Middle School broadcasts a live news show each morning to the school.  Each day a

different news team compiles announcements, menus, birthdays for the day, weather, and pictures of students for the show.  Students use Visual Communicator with the computer that includes a teleprompter and green screen. The news team is directed by Mrs. Clarke.

     Yesterday I helped Mrs. Stromberg and her students setup and use the CPS Clickers.  Clickers (the remote controls) are given to each student.  A question is displayed on the smartboard, and then the students respond with their "clicker".  This is a great way to find out what your students are actually learning.  Teachers are given immediate feedback as soon as the question is answered.  This is definately one way to get your kids excited and involved in the classroom.  Clickers are a great tool and if you are interested in using them we have them available at every elementary school.

     February 27, 2008: Today is a snow day, which is a perfect time for us to work on an ongoing project at Rock Creek.  Today, we are upgrading all teacher stations so they will now have Office 2007 and Windows XP.  We are very excited that Rock Creek will now have more updated software.  We are also upgrading the memory in all teacher computers at Rock Creek. 

We have a screensaver that is available to download.  This screen saver will show you images of the schools and allow you to choose which schools from which you want to receive news. High Speed internet access is required for the screen saver to work properly.   The file is available by clicking here.
