Friday, March 1^st – Dr. Seuss’ Birthday – Cartoon Campout -“Horton Hears a Who” will be the movie shown – Cost is determined by good behavior per class. Favorite Book Character dress up day. The book needs to be one read at school from the library.

Rock Creek Science Fair

March 15^th (Friday) will be the Rock Creek Science Fair. We will begin setting up the displays as soon as your child arrives at school. There will be tables set up in the gymnasium with labels on them for the various grade levels.

We will choose a 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winners for each grade. There will be 2 judges that will come to the school and judge the contest. The judging will take place beginning around 9:00 AM. No one will be allowed in the gym during judging. The judges will be awarding points based on the following criteria: (0, 1, or 2 points for each category)

1) A Title

2) A Problem (a question to be answered)

3) A Hypothesis (a prediction about what will happen in the experiment)

4) A Procedure (step-by-step details on how to carry out the project)

5) A Materials List (included in the procedure) of everything used in the project

6) A Conclusion (what happened in the project? What the project proved? Was the hypothesis correct?)

7) Creativity & Originality

8) Evidence showing most of the work being done by the students

9) One to four points awarded for the overall appearance of the project (neat, attractive, colorful)

*****A total of 20 points are possible. Due to limited space, displays must be set up using 2 ft. x 1 ½ ft. This is the normal size for Science boards. *****
